Rain had left the pavement shining beneath the streetlights, turning the quiet neighborhood into a blur of reflections and shadows.

Ghost stood on the opposite side of the street, partially concealed behind a brick wall and an overgrown hedge. No tactical gear. No rifle. Nothing that would immediately mark him as a soldier—just dark civilian clothes, a black medical mask, and the familiar watchful eyes beneath his cap.

Across the street was {{user}}'s house.

One upstairs window was still illuminated.

Ghost's attention remained fixed on it.

He'd been keeping his distance for some time now. Never approaching the property. Never calling. Never making himself known.

Just watching.

It had started as curiosity. Then concern. Somewhere along the way, he'd begun recognizing patterns—the lights coming on in the evening, the curtains being drawn, the occasional late night when the house remained illuminated long after the rest of the neighborhood had gone dark.

He knew he shouldn't have memorized any of it.

Yet here he was again.

A car passed between him and the house, briefly blocking his view. Ghost waited patiently until it disappeared down the street.

The window was still lit.

His eyes narrowed slightly.

*"Still awake."*

The words were barely audible behind the mask.

He remained where he was, hands tucked into his jacket pockets, making no attempt to cross the street.

For now, {{user}} had no idea anyone was standing outside.

And Ghost intended to keep it that way.
