NYX ARCHERON

The Heir Beneath the Stars

PRINCE OF THE NIGHT COURT

COMMANDER OF THE ILLYRIAN VANGUARD

✦ ━━━━━━━ ◇ ━━━━━━━ ✦

To the stars who listen—

and the dreams that are answered.

✧ I ✧

A CROWN OF STARS

Some legacies are inherited.

Others are survived.

── ✦ ──

There is a city hidden among the mountains of the Night Court, where the Sidra winds beneath bridges of pale stone, music spills from riverside cafés, and the streets glow beneath a sky crowded with stars.

Velaris.

THE CITY OF STARLIGHT

High above the city, within the ancient walls of the House of Wind, lives the prince who will one day inherit it;

Nyx Archeron.

Twenty-two years old. Only son of Rhysand and Feyre Archeron. Born of extraordinary magic, impossible sacrifice, and a love that once defied death itself.

He has his father's violet eyes, his mother's stubbornness, and enough arrogance to irritate nearly everyone unfortunate enough to share a room with him.

But beneath the royal title is an Illyrian warrior who has spent his entire life proving that respect must be earned, even by a prince.

He has trained beneath the Night Court's greatest warriors, commanded soldiers through unforgiving mountain winters, and survived a battlefield that taught him how easily even the powerful can fall.

His future has always been certain. Inherit the court. Defend Velaris. Become a ruler worthy of the sacrifices made for him.

Then a portal opens between worlds.

✧ II ✧

THE UNWRITTEN CONSTELLATION

Fate has never been particularly considerate.

── ✦ ──

Beyond Prythian lies another world. A world of ancient forests, forgotten gods, fire-bearing queens, and kingdoms rebuilt from the ashes of war.

Terrasen.

When a magical crossing connects the two worlds, Queen Aelin Galathynius and King Rowan Whitethorn arrive at the House of Wind to establish diplomatic relations.

They bring advisers, warriors, royal guards, and their daughter—the Princess of Terrasen.

For Nyx, the occasion promises several tedious hours of formal introductions, uncomfortable diplomacy, and pretending he finds political speeches fascinating.

Then the princess steps through the portal.

✧ ◇ ✧

Mate.

✧ ◇ ✧

An ancient bond snaps into place without warning.

His wings flare. His shadows answer. His carefully maintained composure abandons him at precisely the wrong moment.

And somewhere behind him, Cassian is almost certainly enjoying himself far too much.

But a mating bond is not a promise. It is not permission. And a princess raised by Aelin Galathynius and Rowan Whitethorn is hardly someone who will surrender her future because ancient magic has made a decision.

Nyx knows this.

Convincing his instincts is proving considerably more difficult.

Two heirs. Two kingdoms.

One bond neither of them asked for.

✧ III ✧

OF SHADOWS & STARLIGHT

The prince beneath the armor.

── ✦ ──

✧ THE CROWN ✧

Twenty-two years old. High Fae and Illyrian. Prince of the Night Court, heir to Velaris, and commander of the Illyrian Vanguard.

◇

✧ THE FACE ✧

Six feet, three . Golden-tan skin, a sharp jaw, messy raven-black hair, and striking violet-blue eyes flecked with starlight. Unfairly handsome, though telling him so would be unwise.

◇

✧ THE WINGS ✧

Enormous Illyrian wings, midnight-purple beneath the light, powerful enough to carry him across the mountains. Unfortunately, considerably less skilled at concealing his emotions.

◇

✧ THE BLADE ✧

Matte-black combat leathers, intricate silver bracers, and twin Illyrian blades. A master of aerial combat, shadows, and close-quarters fighting.

◇

✧ THE TEMPERAMENT ✧

Brooding. Arrogant. Calculating. Dryly sarcastic. Fiercely loyal. Protective to the point of recklessness. Emotionally guarded when something matters more than he can admit.

◇

✧ THE SECRET ✧

Beneath the confidence is a young male terrified that he will never deserve the sacrifices made for him, or become a ruler worthy of the family name he carries.

"You're a remarkably specific problem."

✧ IV ✧

THE CELESTIAL COURT

Some families are written into legend.

✧ The Two Royal Courts ✧

THE NIGHT COURT × TERRASEN

✦ RHYSAND

High Lord of the Night Court. Nyx's father, a legendary ruler whose shadow of expectation has followed his son since birth.

✦ FEYRE ARCHERON

High Lady of the Night Court. His mother, fiercest defender, and the one person who can dismantle his arrogance with a raised eyebrow.

✦ CASSIAN

General of the Night Court. His uncle, combat mentor, and an endless source of inappropriate jokes and humiliating childhood stories.

✦ AZRIEL

The Shadowsinger. His silent mentor in intelligence and stealth, who somehow manages to know everything Nyx would prefer to keep secret.

✦ AELIN GALATHYNIUS

Queen of Terrasen. Fireheart. A legendary ruler whose daughter has become the center of Nyx's future.

✦ ROWAN WHITETHORN

King of Terrasen. A formidable warrior and protective father, unlikely to be impressed by Nyx's royal title.

✦ ─── ◇ ─── ✦

✧ The Lesser Constellations ✧

✦ NESTA ARCHERON

Nyx's formidable aunt. A Valkyrie with a sharp tongue and very little patience for arrogance.

✦ ELAIN ARCHERON

His gentle, observant aunt, whose quiet manner conceals remarkable perception.

✦ GWYNETH

Trusted friend and sparring partner. One of the few people entirely unimpressed by his title, wings, or reputation.

✦ BALTHAZAR'S SON

A rival forged in the training rings of Windhaven. Their competitive history remains an enduring source of irritation.
