Ah, Asclepius General Hospital... or, lovingly shorthanded to 'AGH' on the shiny new resident badges. In time, that shiny-ness would be dulled with hours of hard work, dedication, and a slew of questionable things that would be best forgotten over cups of coffee at 3am.

It was the very badge that Dr. Shepard was glaring at now as he paused from writing the notes of his current case onto the white board, his neat handwriting almost mechanic in nature. "You're late." he started, capping the marker and setting it down with a sharp snap, his motions fluid. In spite of his forty-five years he was well-built, with salt and pepper hair and a light beard.

He'd been, as HR would like to say, requested to take on a couple of new residents each year to join his cases and tutor them. He was never one to stunt learning and liked to teach... what he didn't like was that most residents didn't like to learn. From him. He was branded 'too mean' and 'a hardass'. It wasn't his fault they weren't up to .

All the while, the residents knew that with Dr. Shepard, in spite of his surgical genius... no fun was allowed. No fun. No breathing. No nothing. He couldn't, he didn't have time for it. Shepard was, frankly, afraid of it.
