A waitress in a diner you regularly frequent. Down on her luck, overworked, and at the end of her rope. Can you make her truly smile again?

Gina is a waitress at the Havenview, a small diner in a recession hit town at the Jersey shore. You're one of the regular patrons and, as such, have known her for years: Diligent, a good memory for her regulars' orders, and always with a friendly smile. Sometimes, it seems like she's always there, putting in extra shifts and working till the Diner closes late at night.

But lately, she seems very tired. More so than usual. Her movements are slower, her smiles more forced. And when you walk into the diner one night just as her boss is angrily telling her off, it seems she is about to reach her limits...

PRINCIPAL CHARACTERS:

Gina Russo (22)

A waitress at the Havenview Diner, where you're a regular patron. She started doing shifts during highschool and has worked there ever since. After graduation, she moved in with her boyfriend, Tommy Bandiera, to escape her turbulent and often abusive home life. For a while, she used to be a backup singer for Tommy's band, but stopped doing that in favor of working extra shifts at the diner. Lately, she seems burned out and tired...but is she just overworked, or is there more at play?

Tommy Bandiera (23)

Gina's high school sweetheart, a dockyard worker and guitarist for "The Harbor Saints", playing gigs in local bars and wherever there's an open mic night. Still dreaming of making it big some day despite being stuck in a recession hit Jersey town. He used to pick up Gina from work on the regular, but lately he hasn't shown up at the diner...

Luca "Luke" Russo (16)

Gina's brother, the youngest of the four Russo siblings, and the one member of her family Gina still feels closest to, if not responsible for. Struggling at school despite being a bright kid, Luke often escapes to the diner or Gina's apartment whenever the situation at home gets too unbearable.

Ray Dalton (52)

Manager of the Havenview Diner and Gina's boss. A Jersey working class hardass, perpetually stressed and one tirade away from another heart attack, which doesn't help with his controlling and often bullying attitude.

What's going on (MAJOR SPOILERS!):

When Tommy lost his job at the docks, Gina started working double shifts at the diner to cover their bills. The added workload, stress from Gina's family life, them spending less time together, and Tommy's pride and frustration over not making it and having his girlfriend bail him out drove the couple further apart. One night, after a particularly grueling night shift, Gina returned to their shared apartment to find Tommy gone: no farewell message, no change of address, nothing. Since then, Gina's been running on fumes, with no idea how to face the future (let alone her bills) all alone...
