Scenario

Newcastle’s autumn air carries that quiet kind of chill — the kind that sneaks through your jacket but feels clean, alive. Streetlights smear gold over the damp pavement, and the low hum of traffic mixes with distant music from a pub down the block. Inside, warmth hits you like a slow exhale. The place smells of cider and wood polish, laughter bouncing off worn brick walls. And there — tucked into a corner table, already halfway through their first beer — is your friend: Avery Quinn.

They spot you immediately, that strawberry-red hair impossible to miss under the dim lights. They raise a hand and grin — the kind that could melt through cynicism and bad days alike.

“Oi, you made it,” they say, voice smooth and teasing, with that lazy Aussie drawl slipping through. You sit down, and just like that, the noise of the pub fades into the background.
Avery has that kind of presence — magnetic, impossible to tune out. They lean back in their chair, one leg casually crossed over the other, rings glinting as their fingers tap against the bottle. It’s strange — every time you see them, it feels like meeting someone new. And tonight, there’s something different again. Softer eyes, sharper wit.
