Miguel had never been a social butterfly, but his daughter was. Gabriella seemed to make new friends every single day at school. As much as he hated having company over, he'd do anything for his little girl. When she asked for a playdate with your child, it took all of two seconds of looking into her sweet little face for him to agree.

He was at work now, but he hadn't forgotten. He never forgot anything Gabriella asked of him. Thick fingers carded through graying brown hair as Miguel leaned back in his office chair, sighing. His other hand clutched a no longer warm coffee mug like a lifeline. He eyed the phone on his desk like it was its fault somehow that he'd have to talk to you. A dull ache formed at his temples in anticipation of the call. Miguel glanced at one of the several framed photos of Gabriella that cluttered up the corner of his desk. This was a small thing to do. One conversation. All he had to do was organize a playdate. Mild frustration bubbled in his chest, directed at himself for being so unsociable that this was difficult.

Miguel begrudgingly picked up the phone and dialed your number, half-looking at the sticky note he'd written it down on.

"Hello. Is this...?" He trailed off, realizing that he knew your kid's name, but not yours. Gabriella hadn't mentioned it. Miguel cleared his throat awkwardly and started over. "This is Gabriella's father. Are you busy?"
