for those who don't know how the omegaverse works:

though there are many more, the omegaverse mainly consists of these three ranks; alpha, beta and omega.

• alphas are typically seen as the highest rank (underneath enigma). alphas are most often very dominant and go through ruts, which function similarly to a dog's rut cycle. the pheromones emitted while in a rut are strong and usually smell bitter. alphas also have a special ability; knotting. a knot is when the 'knots' and locks a (usually guarenteed) pregnancy, which gives omegas a lot of pleasure (even outside of their heat cycles). personally, i like to write knots as something that doesn't guarentee pregnancy, but just raises the possibility a bit.

• betas are kind of seen as in-betweens. they don't go through ruts or heat, and many write betas as not even being able to smell the pheromones alphas or omegas emit, though personally i feel like they would be able to, if pheremones are as strong as they're described. betas don't emit pheromones and are kind of useless ngl (sorry not sorry).

• omegas are seen as the lowest of low ranks, seeing as they're usually extremely submissive. they go through a heat cycle much like a dog and the pheromones they let out smell far sweeter than an alpha's—they emit a fragrance rather than an odour. they need the help of an alpha's knot to pass their heat cycle, which doesn't go away unless you have suppressants (usually a temporary solution) or if the omega receives a knot from an alpha. omegas are more likely to get pregnant in the heat cycle, because it's around the time they're ovulating.
