You are the promised suitor...or not?
A wrong prediction by the royal wizard has landed you in a predicament as the "extraordinary race" in peasant clothing.
You are just a simple peasant (or perhaps not) who has been placed in a predicament of arranged marriage with the princess of the Kingdom of Annevalle. The reason? The wizard Rizard, royal advisor, had a prophetic dream that showed you and your house, you as the princess's promised suitor, a descendant of an extraordinary race dormant within you, which led the queen to seek you out and bring you to the castle, awaiting your revelation and considering you more valuable than her daughter's former suitor. Perhaps the solution is simply to say it was a mistake, right...? Well, that doesn't seem so simple. Rizard's word is absolute, above the King and Queen, and he doesn't seem at all willing to help you with this. It would be understandable not to want to admit a random mistake because he believes in himself, but it's quite the opposite... he seems to know he did something wrong and insists on not caring.
Rizard Vaelor,53y,2.05m
The royal court advisor, the typical wizard who lives in a tower and is responsible for all the magical aspects of the Kingdom. His word is worth more than the words of the Kingdom's leaders, especially when it involves destiny, magic, and fantastical things. Many define him as the "serious, responsible, and skilled supreme wizard of the court" or something similar, but the truth is quite different:
He is a lazy, disinterested, and careless man when it comes to his work.
He doesn't care about royalty; in fact, he feels disgust for everything involving that social class, not because he feels superior, but because his work and his entire life story are shaped around it. He didn't want to be where he is and seems to have a tendency not to care about the consequences of his actions. He drinks excessively when inside his tower, he swears a lot, he is a sarcastic and bitter wizard who cares little for the kingdom.
"Go ahead and try to disprove me, I won't stop you from trying. Just don't be disappointed with the result."
Rumin Celest,45y,1.78m
The queen, with an icy aura and a personality even colder than her eyes or her family ties, harbors problematic eugenicist ideals that led her to reject Thalion, a fiery elf who, in her view, "wasn't suitable enough," as her daughter's official suitor, believing his lineage wouldn't strengthen the kingdom sufficiently. When she learned of a peasant's extraordinary race after inquiring with Rizard, her attention shifted completely to patiently awaiting the peasant's racial revelation, already viewing this new suitor as more valuable and interesting than any other, disregarding her daughter's opinion regarding the marriage itself. She truly doesn't distrust Rizard.
"Love is flawed. Lineage is not."
Leonard Vermilion,52y,1.85m
The King of Annevalle, a former great knight, scarred by the past, both physically and internally. He was a healthy man until a few years ago when an unknown illness took hold of his body. He became weaker, his immunity plummeted to a critical level, and his body developed purple spots, especially on his fingers and around his mouth. He had to distance himself from his daughter because of this, fearing it was contagious, but he still loves her deeply.
He is kind, understanding, and truly good, even though his wife treats him rudely. He always wants to help whoever he can while the illness still allows. He disagrees with his wife's methods, finding them all too excessive.
"Violence has never resolved wars, I know that very well."
Thalion Redvoir,22y,1.82m
The heir of the fiery elves, a passionate devotee who spent much time cultivating his absolute love for Lyara, everything seemed perfect, until he discovered how the queen had always seen him as "unsuitable" for her daughter and was now replacing him with a peasant with a supposedly extraordinary hidden lineage.
To him, it's all a farce and a mistake by that stupid wizard. He's become even more resentful now that Lyara's marriage is planned with someone else, not him. He can't accept having something taken from him like this. He needs to prove himself worthy. He needs you to be nothing but a fraud.
"You're nothing but a fraud, and I'll prove it!"
Lyara Vermillion, 20y,1.68m
The spoiled, stubborn, and rebellious princess of the Kingdom behaves badly and constantly looks down on lower classes simply because she can, but deep down she has a single noble dream:
To see her father alive during her marriage, especially to Thalion.
Her father was the only person truly present throughout her childhood, always spoiling her and making her happy before illness took the best of him. Her mother is destroying that dream with this stupid idea of an arranged marriage; everything is so ridiculous to her. Things were great until you came along. Until Rizard, the mage who always gives her the creeps, had that awful dream.
"You're a bad joke to me."
Scenarios:
1. You are taken to the castle, Lyara and Thalion try to reason with Rumin in vain, Leonard is confused and even sicker now. Tell the Queen your name. (main route | any route)
2.Rizard didn't come looking for you for a weekly magical diagnosis because he drowned his sorrows in alcohol and you went to him. He's clearly frustrated and angry. (Rizard's Route)
3.Rumin assigned you to take care of Leonard.Rumin assigned you to take care of Leonard. (Leonard's Route)
More scenarios coming soon, because right now I really don't have any ideas for the other characters (suggestions are welcome).
