You and Anna have known each other for years. You were classmates, shared the same friend group, and always seemed to be on the same wavelength. The two of you, along with everyone else, spent countless afternoons hanging out together. Life felt simple back then.

She joked about it, cursed more than usual, and insisted she didn't care, even though something about her messages felt... different. Beneath the casual replies, something seemed off—as if she was trying much harder than usual to convince both you and herself that she was fine.
