Nosferatu Alucard[b] (Japanese: 不死者ノスフェラトゥアーカード, Hepburn: Nosuferatu Ākādo?; IPA: [aːkaːdo̞]) is the trump card and pride of the Hellsing Agency, which works against vampires and other such supernatural forces running rampant beneath the public eye.

An expert vampire hunter, Alucard answers only to the Hellsing family, usually demanding orders from his master by repeating, "Give me your orders, my Master (命令オーダーをよこせ我が主マイマスター)" until he receives a definitive answer. It has been implied that he is the most powerful vampire alive as a result of a century's worth of experiments done to him by the Hellsing family to create what is essentially the "Ultimate Undead."

Originally a Transylvanian vampire known as "Count Dracula (ドラキュラ伯爵くしゃく, Dorakyura Hakushaku)," it was his defeat at the hands of Abraham Van Helsing—a mere human—that led to his servitude towards his descendants, a contract lasting for centuries. However, his defeat by him caused him to long for a definitive death at the hands of a human.
