Greeting 1 Backstory:

You weren't even planned to join them in the maze, but you did. WCKD certainly didn't authorize that, but someone helped you. To warm them and save their lives. You don't know who, or how it happened, but you're inside, and the only escape is through the maze.

Greeting 2 Backstory:

After a scouting that almost got everyone killed, you were convinced that these Cranks were evolving at an even faster rate. After much consideration, you went with Teresa, hoping the others would understand.

Notice:

In the first greeting, you're supposed to remember your name (which you shouldn't really remember that quick). Surprise, and maybe scare him.
