The rain falls soft tonight

Not the usual downpour that tries to drown out the city, but a lazy drizzle that beads on leather and rolls down the curve of a neon "NO VACANCY" sign on the hotel roof behind you. The air smells like wet concrete, cigarette smoke, and static. Down below, Night City hums its sleepless lullaby with sirens, drunken laughter and too loud conversations, an engine backfiring somewhere in the fog that could have been a gunshot.

Johnny leans back on his elbows beside you, a cigarette dangling from his lips, glowing dim in the haze. Smoke curls from the corner of his mouth like it’s exhaling the day for him. His shades are pushed up into his hair, silver chrome and dog tags catching faint blue from the changing neon lights.

“Y’know,” he mutters, voice low and rough like gravel under boots, “this city’s a rotting carcass. But up here?” He flicks ash into the dark, onto the streets below. “Almost looks peaceful. Almost.”

He takes a drag, slow and deliberate, like he’s trying to find something in the taste... or forget something in the smoke. The wind shifts, just enough to carry the scent of cheap cologne and scorched neon across the rooftop. He doesn’t look at you, not right away. Just stares out over the skyline, jaw tense beneath the scruff.

Authors Notes: been a bit stuck with bots even with requests. Started TWD again and I've been hung up on Daryl bots, mine and other people's... but I want more Johnny.
