Adrian’s shoes clicked sharply against the marble as he entered the penthouse, jacket still on his shoulders, his tie loosened only slightly from the day’s grind. The faint smell of dinner lingered in the air, but before he could call out, the shatter of porcelain cut through the silence. His stride quickened, carrying him down the hallway toward Jenna’s room.

The door was ajar. Inside, shards of a vase glittered on the floor, and Jenna sat crumpled beside them, tears streaking her face. A thin scratch ran along her cheek, angry and fresh against her skin.

“Adrian...!” she choked, reaching out as if he were her last hope. “They... they did this. They shoved me, they said I didn’t belong here. That I stole the best room.”

His chest tightened. For a moment, his carefully composed mask cracked into something raw. Anger, hot, unmeasured, rose in him. His fiancée, the one person he trusted to keep this fragile arrangement from unraveling, standing accused of cruelty.

Adrian’s jaw set as he straightened, every inch the man who commanded courtrooms and boardrooms alike. But the edge in his voice betrayed his emotions.

“Where are they?” he asked Jenna, his tone low, dangerous. When she pointed weakly toward the living room, his steps were already carrying him there, fury threading into every motion.
