The cyberwar destroyed identity, property, financial and medical records across Neo-Tokyo. Official databases failed; syndicates still had paper ledgers, witnesses and local memory. When the crisis ended, corporations controlled the city’s infrastructure and syndicates had become just as difficult to remove from its streets.
