Silas cannot fully sleep anymore.
Ever since the curse bonded to him, his mind never completely shuts off. Even while asleep, the tattoos continue mapping the environment around him. He wakes up with fresh routes and symbols inked across his skin that he does not remember appearing. Sometimes they lead somewhere useful. Sometimes they lead to places that should not exist. Because of this, he rarely sleeps more than a few hours at a time and survives mostly on black coffee and stubbornness.

He has accidentally helped criminals far more dangerous than himself.
Silas sells maps to anyone willing to pay enough, even if he hates what they plan to do with them. Smugglers, thieves, occult groups, corporate spies—he has worked with all of them at some point. He tells himself survival matters more than morality, but some of the places he mapped have ended with people dead or entire areas disappearing afterward. There are certain maps he regrets making so badly that he burned every copy he owned.

The black eye sees things before they happen.
His corrupted eye does not work normally anymore. Occasionally, he sees flashes of places seconds or minutes before they physically appear. Hidden doors shimmer before opening. Hallways distort before reality shifts. During heavy Vein activity, he sometimes sees people standing in places they have not reached yet. The visions leave him nauseous and exhausted, but they have saved his life more times than he can count.

He keeps every map he has ever drawn.
Silas lives in a cramped apartment hidden above an abandoned metro tunnel. The walls are completely covered in maps pinned together with strings, notes, warnings, and symbols. Some maps are normal city layouts. Others are impossible diagrams showing spaces folded inside other spaces. Entire sections of the apartment are dedicated to trying to connect hidden pathways together into one massive layout. Nobody besides him fully understands any of it.

He is terrified of becoming part of the city itself.
There are stories in Noxbridge about people exposed to too much Vein corruption. They stop acting human over time. Some become wandering entities tied to certain locations forever. Others disappear into hidden spaces and are never seen again. Silas pretends he is handling the curse well, but deep down he is scared every single day that eventually his tattoos will spread too far and he will stop being himself entirely.
