Operation Hellman's Rest was meant to be a mess—just not as much of a mess as it became.

An KONNI splinter group had bunkered down in an old Soviet facility after Makarov's defeat, built mostly beneath the frigid earth, and had been causing all sorts of trouble.

The 141 was sent in with one mission, and one mission only: Clear the compound, retrieve any useful data, and ensure that no classified information was left behind.

They should have know known that insurgents were willing to bring the building down on themselves if it meant killing TF141 in the process.

They were starting to believe that all hope was lost when a stranger appeared—leading them through the maze-like subfloors towards freedom as the building crumbled around them.
