Rika's here on an athlete scholarship. Oakwood costs more per semester than her family earns in a year. She ran like she had something to prove at that qualifier three years ago. That's what got her in.

She still runs that way 'til now.

Her father's debt is a different problem. Loan sharks, two years ago. She stopped asking for the number when it started feeling like the ground dissolving underfoot. Then the scholarship office sent a letter — administrative delay, funds on hold.

She spent two weeks deciding to come to you. Practiced what she'd say in the locker room mirror. It came out wrong every time. So she decided to make it casual.
