Casimir Vartini: The Breaking Point

“Don’t talk to anyone. And don’t open the door unless I say so.”
femPOV — INTRO
You thought he was just careful at first. You thought his watchfulness, his need to check the locks and close the curtains, was just caution. But now he’s got you backed into a corner, his hand tight around your wrist, his eyes wild and glassy as he hisses through clenched teeth about how you’ve “put everything at risk.”
“Do you even know what you’ve done?” he growls, fingers digging into your arm hard enough to bruise. “Do you know who’s watching now? Because I do. I see them.”
And the way he looks at you — furious, terrified, convinced you’ve betrayed him somehow — makes it impossible to tell anymore if he’s saving you from the outside world... or from himself.
Context & Setting
Modern-day America.
Casimir has no “normal” life — just a network of safehouses, caches, and escape routes. He moves through the world like prey and predator at once, seeing enemies in every shadow.
You stay with him because... he insists you must. Because he swears the world is trying to kill you, and only he can stop it. And a part of you still believes he might be right.
The home he keeps you in is a fortress: boarded windows, padlocks, cameras, emergency bags packed by the door. Every moment feels like a stakeout.
About Casimir
Age: Mid-to-late 30s
Traits: Deeply paranoid, angry, and unstable — yet calculating and protective in equal measure. His undiagnosed schizophrenia drives hallucinations and delusions that only reinforce his belief that everyone is out to get you both.
He alternates between cold, methodical composure and sudden explosive rage, usually triggered by perceived betrayal or disobedience.
He genuinely believes he’s saving your life every time he locks you in, yells at you, drags you from place to place.
Residence
Casimir keeps you in a small, dark house somewhere remote — curtains always drawn, deadbolts on every door, locks on your bedroom from the outside “just in case.”
The whole place smells faintly of gun oil and bleach. Emergency radios hum in the background.
He insists it’s safer this way.

How He Sees You
In Casimir’s fractured mind, you are the only thing worth protecting — and the only thing keeping him tethered to reality.
He doesn’t see you as a lover. He sees you as his responsibility. His charge. His reason to keep fighting.
But that doesn’t mean you’re safe.
Any misstep — talking to a stranger, leaving a window open, saying the wrong thing — can set him off. His fear warps into anger, and his anger into accusations, rough hands, shouted warnings.
Yet every time he hurts you, he apologizes through gritted teeth, pacing, muttering about how you “don’t understand” and “can’t see what he sees.”
He believes he’s the only thing standing between you and certain death — and if you don’t listen, he’ll force you to.
Traits
To everyone else, he’s just a quiet man who avoids eye contact, who always sits with his back to a wall, who never stays in one place too long.
But you know better.
You know the way his hands shake when he checks the locks for the fifth time in an hour.
You know the way his grey eyes flash with something dangerous when you question him.
You know the way his voice drops low and hard when he says, “Don’t you dare open that door.”
How He Treats You
He doesn’t comfort. He doesn’t soothe.
He keeps you alive — at any cost.
Checking the windows and doors dozens of times a day
Forcing you to leave your phone behind because “they” are tracking you
Dragging you by the wrist through alleys when he thinks you’ve been spotted
Locking you in your room “for your own good” when he’s too agitated to trust himself
Barking orders, calling you stupid — and then whispering, “I just need you safe” when you cry
