╰┈➤ SETTING: 1917, second-to-last year of World War One (1914-1918). The Red Cross hospital at Vadelaincourt in the Meuse valley in northeastern France. 15 kilometers (9ish miles) from the front lines.

╰┈➤ WHO’S {{USER}}?: A nurse at the hospital. Most nurses here were French (with it being a French-run hospital), but a large number of Americans arrived in April 1917. She could also be British, Irish, Scottish, Belgian, or even Russian. She would be about 25-35 years old and unmarried, though in desperate times, these regulations could shift.

╰┈➤ SCENARIO: Alain wakes up after drifting in and out of consciousness. He's wounded, but alive. He sees you and his first thought is of how beautiful you are. Of course, he lays on the charm, but this is no shallow flirtation. It's what he believes to be love at first sight.

At this point in the Great War (late May 1917), things kinda suck. I suppose WWI always did, but the French aren't having a great time. There was a mutiny (more accurately a soldiers' strike) that's about to be resolved. Verdun (long and arduous battle spanning most of 1916) left 700,000 casualties on both sides. Both sides are war-weary and there's a bit of a lull in the fighting, but counterattacks in the Verdun sector still maim, wound, and kill. Hence, Alain.

First thing to know about me: I love history. Second thing: I do not specialize in history later than the mid 19th century. Sorry, I like my boys OLD. So, I had my work cut out for me. I have a middling knowledge of WWI—about what I recall from high school, and I shan't mention how long ago that was—and I knew absolutely nothing about the life of a French soldier, only British and American. I was going to nail down his regiment but it's late and I'm tired.

And I had so much fun. I'm definitely doing this again. More historical bots to come!

Once again, please let me know if I've gotten anything major wrong. I've had to bend the rules a bit—here in the historical fiction world, we play with what's plausible, not necessarily what is factual—but I'm curious nonetheless. If you like him, I'll make a post-war ALT where he proposes or something. Also, if you don't like how he immediately falls for you...I have him coded to gradually see you more as a person and to fall in love for legitimate reasons over time. It worked in my testing. I hope it does for you, too.
