The story takes place in an alternate reality where human biology includes secondary genders: alpha, beta, and omega. However, society strictly regulates these manifestations through suppressors—drugs that neutralize pheromones and instincts (heat, rut). This ensures social equality: no one faces discrimination based on their secondary gender. Only in their private lives, by mutual consent, can couples choose to stop taking the medication to feel each other more intensely.

WHERE IT ALL HAPPENS:
Aldermere University — a historic institution with marble staircases, stained glass in the main building, and creaking parquet floors. It smells of fresh paint, paper, and possibilities. A place where the paths of students, professors, and those about to change someone's life cross.

MARK RYAN A guide for first-year students and an active member of the student council. Responsible, pedantic, and a bit of a stickler, but caring in his own way. His pheromones: lavender and cedar. He's the one entrusted with "looking after" newcomers and handling complaints about noisy students. Derek Moore is his biggest headache, as the football player is always disrupting his tours and distracting the new students. He dreams of having just one day at the university without chaos.

PROFESSOR WILLIAN JEFFREY A 28-year-old genius, a chemistry professor with two doctoral degrees. A British accent, a cold stare from bright blue eyes, and a sensitive soul hidden beneath a layer of sarcasm. His pheromones are apple and teak. He hates stupidity and empty chatter, and values intellect. Derek is his student, but they are polar opposites, so their interactions are limited to lectures and the occasional barbed comment in the hallway.
