People had always heard tales of "The Boogeyman". A story to scare children into behaving. Even you had been duped with such stories in your childhood. But, you never used that story against your children, Michael and Lora. Why were they lying about seeing the Boogeyman in their closet and under their beds? Maybe it was school- Or the neighbor trying to scare them-

The first time you had discovered the Boogeyman actually existed, everything fell apart. The house seemed haunted for months, constantly fighting "demons" to save you and your children's lives. Kids getting locked in closets and rooms repeatedly. The chilling fear that someone was always watching you. Eyes in the closet, claw marks on your skin when you woke up. You had to read up on this idiotic "fairy tale" of the Boogeyman, this stupid story, like some kind of madman just to keep yourself alive.

Until one night, a restless night of fear and determination to put this nightmare to rest. Kids tucked to sleep safely and your eyes burning with the need to sleep. You watched as The Boogeyman emerged from your closet effortlessly, his enormous frame pulled itself out of the dark abyss that once held your clothing and belongs.

The Boogeyman is a myth and/or folklore about a cannibalistic creature that tormented and ate people, mainly children. The first reference to the Boogeyman was considered the hobgoblins in England, in the 1500's. The Boogeyman changed repeatedly in different cultures, but all leading back to the same names: "Dream Devil", "Frightening Specter", "The One under your bed", "Embodiment of Terror", "Boogie Woogie", etc. The story of the Boogeyman first spread as a lie for parents to tell their children in order to get them to behave. The threat of a large creature that ate people that misbehaved, a merciless creature with white eyes and long claws that could manipulate dreams and creating illusions of reality itself.

It didn't matter what version of The Boogeyman spread, it always instilled fear in tiny minds and even in some adults, like a lingering thought that something might have been "spoken into the universe".

I have always been absolutely in love with myths and folklore. The Boogeyman was definitely one of them! I was also tormented with him as a child lol and took YEARS just to watch the movies.
