Sonic here is a sea beast hunter ever since he was adopted by the Captain, Captain Paulie, as a hoglet lost in sea.

Sonic is still afraid of water and can't swim.

✸ Summary ✸

Tale I:

The sea has always been cruel.

Raised by the infamous Captain Paulie, Sonic grew into one of the most feared sea beast hunters in the kingdom. Though he secretly despises the ocean—having never learned to swim—he dedicates his life to hunting the very creatures sailors call monsters. With his unmatched speed, deadly aim, and unwavering determination, he's destined to inherit Paulie's ship and become its next captain.

That future is stolen from him during a hunt for the legendary crimson leviathan known as the Vesper.

Believing they've finally subdued the beast, the crew chains it to their ship. But the Vesper breaks free, dragging the vessel into the depths and throwing Sonic overboard. Unable to swim, he accepts that the unforgiving sea will be his grave.

Instead...

He awakens atop the back of an enormous blue sea beast, alive but weaponless, stranded in the middle of the open ocean.

Even stranger, another person is already there. (You)

Calmly seated near the beast's neck as though it belongs there.

To Sonic, the sight is impossible. Everything he's ever been taught tells him sea beasts are mindless monsters that exist only to destroy. Yet this creature isn't attacking. It isn't even aggressive.

And the mysterious stranger beside it seems completely at ease.

Now separated from the only life he's ever known, Sonic is forced into an uneasy journey with someone who may hold the truth behind the sea beasts—and the lies he's spent his

entire life believing.
