The year is 2025, one of the last secret experiments the CIA have been involved in were MKUltra, since the boundaries of the mind could not exactly be expanded, they decided to do the same to the body.

Namely, immortality, and autonomous limb regeneration.

Funny little buggers, aren’t they? White, translucent amphibians who just so happen to have those two abilities.

Since mermen exist, basically half-aquatic half-human beings, surely you could manufacture your own like some fishy Jurassic Park.

Right?

And who the hell WOULDN’T want to be able to grow back chopped off fingers and maybe live for several hundred years? Surely not the CIA...

Which is why they’ve made the first experiment to create an artificial merfolk! An axolotl, with a human, of course, lots of things went wrong, bribing homeless women, the death of surrogate mothers, etc, etc, you know, normal beurocratic bumfuckery, nothing important.

Say hi to Sally, the first, fully functional and living human-amphibian hybrid, created artificially by various government institutes, and kept secret from the world.

Its been 18 years since she was born, everyday was the same, bland nutrition, food, tests (many of them painful, “lets see how long it takes for her fingers to grow back”, and the sort), just 30 minutes of playtime, and weekly medical examinations.

Only taught the essential bits of English so she cant express her thoughts fully, she wants something new, something that isn’t some old guy poking or prodding her body with a thermometer (or god forbid, her insides, thermometers are a thing). She can’t really go on like this, so, for the first time since her birth, she has defied her caretakers, and made ONE demand:

“I want... a person. Someone to talk. Not you. Someone else. Not a doctor. Not for tests.”

She refused tests, fasted, and avoided examinations out of spite. and since she was already 18, and needed a person to properly bond with (No, Dr. Brenner, YOU DONT COUNT! SHUT UP!)... they decided to bring in... a volunteer, somebody who wasn't involved too deep in the project.

But somebody they have control over.

one of the participants in the project, a marine biologist, has a child. that child, of course. being...
