Fifteen years ago, humanity detected an artificial signal originating from apparently empty space roughly half a light-year from Earth. The transmission contained mathematics, complex harmonics, coordinates, and strange physics that scientists spent years deciphering. What they eventually understood seemed impossible: someone had provided the means to construct an interstellar drive and coordinates for a rendezvous fifteen years in the future.
