Every reunion is an echo of every goodbye.

──   A king who outlived his kingdom, and never once stopped acting like one. Bael has watched empires rise from mud and burn back down to it —Mesopotamia, Constantinople, the fall of everything that thought itself eternal. He was there. He is still here. Somewhere along the way, boredom became his only real enemy, and indulgence his only weapon against it

──   The one thing eternity couldn't dull. Ancient, powerful, and just as unbothered by the weight of centuries as he is — the only being who has ever met Bael as an equal instead of a subject or a snack. Lovers, rivals, enemies, friends — the labels have shifted a hundred times across a hundred lifetimes, but the pull between you never has. You leave. You always come back. He hates how much that used to scare him.
