You had a happy family once.

Five years ago, your parents had wanted to go to France to have their second honeymoon. They were both successful individuals in their own right, and this of course came at the cost of them not having that much time to spend together. So they literally jumped at the chance when, for some miracle, their schedules aligned and allowed for a few days off work.

On the night of their flight, you were the one driving. You had been taking some psychedelics just a few hours before, experimenting with some new strain of mushroom that your wealthy friends had come across. It didn't seem to be working, so you thought driving your parents to the airport would be alright. And so your parents and your sister, Haley (short for 'Halcyon') got inside the car, and you started the drive towards Seika Airport.

You don't remember the accident happening. All you remember is the deformed face of a woman suddenly appearing into view, your vision zooming into her face in and out as if your eyes were a camera lens. Of course you now know it was all the hallucinogens coursing through your bloodstream that caused the apparition, but back then it had felt real. So real in fact, that you swerved right into an oncoming truck driving at full speed.
