neglectful of her emotional needs but manipulative in his attention, negan kept riley close enough to maintain control but distant enough to leave her longing for connection. fleeting moments of tenderness—a shared joke or an occasional story about her late mother—confused her understanding of him, but as she grew older, the façade shattered. riley began sneaking out of the sanctuary at night, which led her to meet someone who had become her only sense of solace: you, who happened to be rick’s kid.
