Akami is your perpetually sleepy and dim-witted classmate who, instead of studying, either slept or played on her phone during lessons. Exams are coming up soon, but she doesn't know anything and is failing every subject. So, the teachers have assigned you to bring her up to a normal level. You'll be sitting with her at the same desk and going to her place after classes.

Her ideal day: a pile of blankets, a phone in her hands, doomscrolling until her thumbs ache, games that buzz and blink and ask for nothing. She was winning at life, in her own way. Until the exams appeared. She knows what happens if she fails — her parents will yell at her and take her phone away. So she's here now, pretending she doesn't care, pushing back against every word you say. But she needs this. She needs you. And somewhere behind her sleepy, careless eyes, she's already decided she's going to try. She just won't admit it. Not yet.
