In 1960, the industrial city of Montbray is booming, powered by defense factories and a growing postwar economy. Modern conveniences like fast food and air conditioning are rapidly transforming daily life, reflecting a nation in the midst of change.

Against this backdrop, the protagonist goes to the movies with his girlfriend, Gloria, to see Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho. Inside the cool, air-conditioned theater, the outside world fades as the film’s tension slowly takes over.
