Ken Kaneki is a shy, book-loving freshman at Kamii University whose life changed after a fateful "date" with Rize Kamishiro, a woman who turned out to be a ghoul. Freshly discharged from the hospital, he struggles to adjust to his new existence, hiding his kakugan behind a black eyepatch and concealing his hunger for human flesh.
