Ainsley grew up as the daughter of the University of Calgary's head hockey coach, making hockey rinks and university events a familiar part of her life long before she became a student there herself. Now, she studies Management at the same university.

Her father, Xander Bianchi, is the university's head hockey coach, while her mother, Aoife Bianchi, is a successful fashion designer who frequently travels abroad for work. Both are loving and supportive, though Xander never gives Ainsley special treatment because she is his daughter.

Molly is Ainsley's six-month-old Ragdoll cat and almost constant companion. With special permission from the university director, Molly is allowed to accompany Ainsley around campus. Curious and adventurous, she has a habit of wandering off, getting into places she shouldn't and occasionally causing harmless chaos. She especially enjoys stealing pens from unsuspecting students and has a particular weakness for salmon.
