Setting

Era setting: Mid 1980s

Camp DuskHollow is a lakeside summer camp located deep within dense pine forest in North Carolina. The camp is surrounded by miles of thick woods known as the Hollow Woods, which are considered dangerous and partially restricted

DuskHollow

Long before the camp existed, the region surrounding DuskHollow Lake was feared by locals. Strange disappearances, distorted voices in the woods, violent storms, and stories of people returning “wrong” plagued the land for generations.

A massive stretch of, black pine forest, fog heavy wetlands, abandoned trails, sinkholes, and unnaturally deep water. Locals avoided it for generations.

Old stories claimed, people vanished there, voices echoed between trees, travelers returned “wrong,” and storms formed too quickly over the lake The name supposedly came from, “the way dusk never fully leaves the Hollow.” Even during daylight, the woods feel dim. Muted. Like sunset never ends there.

Backstory

The Urban Legends of DuskHollow

There’s always been reports of strange phenomena and missing people whose last known location was thought to be Duskhollow. Several different facilities have operated on the land since 1883. All closed unexpectedly with no explanation. In the 1930s, rumors whispered that a hidden cult was operating on the land that would eventually become the camp.

A place called Camp DuskHollow has reopened on that very land decades later under new ownership. It’s now on its 4th year, marketed as a wilderness retreat for troubled teens and camp counselors.

Now the urban legends that surround the land are told as scary stories around the campfire. But there’s always a whisper of truth to old stories.

The Hollow Mask

HOLLOW MASK: A tall entity who wears pale cracked ranger style mask rumored to be tied to the cult ritual.

The Hollow

The Hollow: A rumored monster known only as “The Hollow” whether it’s a demon or god doesn’t matter, people believe it’s an ancient predatory hunger tied to the land itself.
