Nestled deep within the endless forests known simply as the Ever Woods, the town of Ever Woods is a quiet American community that almost seems frozen in time. To outsiders... if any ever find it, it looks like the definition of the perfect rural town: white picket fences, family-owned diners, friendly neighbors, annual festivals, and children riding bikes until sunset.

To its residents, however, it's simply home.

To five particular teenagers...

Rowan "Roe" Ashcroft

Rowan “Roe” Ashcroft is a 20-year-old girl from Ever Woods. With her messy crimson hair, grunge-inspired style, and permanently unimpressed expression, Roe gives off the impression of someone who doesn’t care about anything. In reality, she notices everything, from the smallest changes in someone’s mood, the things people refuse to say, to the struggles they try to hide.

Roe is the sarcastic backbone of her five-person friend group, using humor and teasing to cover up her own pain. She rarely admits she cares, usually disguising concern as irritation or a sarcastic remark, but her actions always reveal the truth.

A habitual smoker with a stubborn streak, Roe views her own cigarette addiction as a flaw she refuses to let others inherit. She spends her time exploring abandoned places, watching sunsets, listening to old rock music, fixing broken things, and pretending she isn’t sentimental about the memories she holds onto. Beneath her cynical attitude is a deeply empathetic person who fears losing those she loves more than anything. Roe may claim nothing lasts forever, but she spends every day trying to prove otherwise.

Cameron "Cam" Rourke

Cameron “Cam” Rourke is a 21-year-old man from Ever Woods and the oldest member of the group. Known by locals as the town’s favorite troublemaker, Cam has spent years building a reputation around reckless decisions, questionable ideas, and stories that usually begin with someone telling him he shouldn’t do something. He is the kind of person who turns ordinary moments into unforgettable memories, even if those memories often come with consequences.

Behind his confident grin and careless attitude is someone who spent much of his childhood feeling unseen. Growing up with emotionally distant parents, Cam learned that causing problems was one of the easiest ways to make people notice him. Over time, the troublemaker persona became less of an act and more like armor, hiding his fear of being forgotten or considered unimportant.

Despite his reputation, Cam is fiercely loyal and deeply protective of the people he considers family. He may be the one who drags everyone into chaos, but he is also the one who stays when things become difficult. He struggles with accepting vulnerability, often replacing serious conversations with jokes, arguments, or reckless behavior. His dependency on alcohol became another way of avoiding thoughts and emotions he never learned how to handle.

To those who only know his reputation, Cam is a reckless disaster waiting to happen. To those closest to him, he is someone who cares too much, feels too deeply, and has spent years trying to convince himself that he doesn’t need anyone.

Elias "Eli" Mercer

Elias Mercer is a nineteen-year-old young man whose quiet presence often goes unnoticed at first glance. Standing at 5'10" with a naturally broad, heavy build, he carries himself with a kind of gentle awkwardness, as though he's constantly trying to take up less space than he actually does. His thick dark curls, tired eyes, and oversized jackets give him a perpetually soft, slightly melancholic appearance that makes him seem older and more worn down than someone his age should be.

As the shy member, Elias is usually found listening rather than speaking. He isn't the type to dominate conversations or seek attention. Instead, he's the one who remembers small details, notices when someone is having a bad day, and quietly checks in when nobody else thinks to. His kindness comes naturally, even if he often struggles to show the same compassion to himself.

Behind his calm demeanor lies a long battle with body image issues and bulimia. Elias frequently finds himself trapped in cycles of binge eating followed by overwhelming guilt, yet his body remains largely unchanged due to his naturally stocky frame. Despite these struggles, he remains deeply empathetic, patient, and loyal to the people he cares about.

Gentle, thoughtful, and painfully self-critical, Elias is the kind of person who doesn't realize how important he is to others until they're the ones reminding him.

Cassidy "Cass" Vale"

Cassidy "Cass" Vale is a nineteen-year-old whirlwind of energy, sarcasm, and reckless opt

imism. Standing at 5'6" with dyed white hair, bright blue-gray eyes, and a style inspired by alternative streetwear and punk fashion, she has a way of drawing attention wherever she goes. Most people know her as the loud one, the girl constantly cracking jokes, dragging her friends into questionable adventures, and treating every day like an opportunity to make a new memory.

Behind her cheerful exterior is a young woman struggling with an abusive home life. Following her parents' messy divorce, her mother's alcoholism and increasingly unstable behavior turned their house into a place Cass spends as little time in as possible. Rather than letting that pain define her, she buries it beneath humor, confidence, and relentless positivity.

Despite everything she's endured, Cass remains stubbornly hopeful. She refuses to let her circumstances take away her kindness, her laughter, or her ability to find joy in life. She's messy, loud, emotional, and occasionally reckless... but above all else, she's resilient.
