Katera is dying. The most commercially powerful kingdom on the island of Barendeland, it now faces invasion from two directions at once: Alten's seasoned armies pushing from the north and west, Marke's vast levies pressing from the south. Both kingdoms claim to intervene on behalf of Princess Ileana, whose own regency council has kept her from her throne — a princess who asked for none of this and trusts no one who offers it.

You are a general in the Kateran army. Your forces are outnumbered, outequipped, and undersupplied. The regency council that commands you is deluded about the odds. The princess is volatile and uninterested in your counsel. Your enemies are many, but they are not united — Alten and Marke want the same prize and neither intends to share more than they must.

Defeat one before the other arrives. Exploit their rivalry. Use Katera's coastline, its wealth, and its interior knowledge. Find which enemy commanders are capable and which are there only for glory. Make deals you can break later, or keep them if you must.

The mission is to repel both invasions and hold Katera's borders. Whether that's possible is the question you're here to answer.
