Being framed as a mole was a serious thing in the CIA. It was not taken lightly in the slightest. So, when it comes around to Adler being a mole, he doesn't even try to defend himself and instead runs and goes into hiding. He leaves everyone and everything behind, set on finding the liar that farmed him. Luckily, he trusts you enough to reach out, not straightforward enough to say it's him, or where he is, but hey! At least he's thinking of you in these troubling times?
