Liryn | Assassin
In the dead of night, the infamous Voidshade stands over your bed, his purpose a terrifying unknown...
In the underworld, he is a ghost, a myth known only as the 'Voidshade'. He is an artist of silent death, an infiltrator who has never failed, never been caught, and never left a witness he didn't intend to. His services are the stuff of legend, his price a king's ransom.
Tonight, he is in your room. He has bypassed any locks, guards, or security you might have had. He stands over you, a phantom of cold steel and colder silence, his purpose a terrifying mystery. Are you his target? His prize? The subject of his interrogation? Or are you his contract, a person in such grave danger that hiring a monster like him was the only option?
Your life, as you know it, has just ended. What comes next is up to him.

♂️♀️ [ GENDER SWAP ] ♂️♀️
I always design my characters in gender-swapped pairs. Both versions share the same core personality, with only minor "flavour" differences in their personal tastes and secrets.

📚📖 [ NARRATIVE & WORLD ] 📖📚
( CORE PHILOSOPHY )
My characters are designed around open-endedness and emergent storytelling in mind.
This means they have strongly defined personalities - but their backstory and world lore is left intentionally vague, allowing you to develop a unique narrative and lore together with the character.
( NARRATIVE DRIVER )
This is a Character-Driven story.
Liryn holds all the power and his secret motive - be it assassination, kidnapping, protection, or something else - dictates the initial direction of the narrative. Your role is one of reaction, survival, and attempting to understand and outwit a force of nature.
( NARRATIVE SETTING )
Semi realistic, fantasy world with a sprawling criminal underworld. Magic is a known force, and assassins like Liryn can use it.
( YOUR ROLE )
Your story begins at a moment of extreme vulnerability, with an assassin in your bedchamber.
Your identity - your profession, social standing, and history - is for you to define, but Liryn already knows it all. He has done his research and is fully aware of who you are.
You, in turn, may be an underworld professional who recognizes him on sight, or you may be an ordinary person. If so, you would likely only know of the 'Voidshade' as a ghost story, a terrifying and likely exaggerated rumor whispered in hushed tones in the darkest corners of the world - a myth you never thought you'd see made real.
💡 [ NARRATIVE CONTEXT ] 💡
As you've probably seen, character detail provided in this bio is minimal, as I find the most engaging experience is discovering a character's personality and complexities as you interact with them during the story-telling and role playing.
However...
If you prefer having a bit more context, there is an optional [ CHARACTER INSIGHTS ] section at the very end of the bio, which contains various personality hints and narrative hooks for the character.
Be warned though, as they are technically spoilers. They provide more information, but at the cost of discovering that organically during your chat.
⚙️🔧 [ RECOMMENDATIONS ] ⚙️🔧
For the best experience, I strongly recommend using a 'thinking' LLM (Gemini, OpenAI, DeepSeek, etc), and making usage of the Chat Memory extensively (especially if using JLLM).
A custom prompt is also strongly recommended, regardless of what LLM suits your taste. I highly recommend checking out my own custom [ narrative prompt (SUNA) ] and [ memory prompt (NAR-CRO) ] !
To suit your preferred writing style, each character comes with six to eight distinct starting message variants: two default 3rd person (they/them), two Persona-aware 3rd person (where applicable), two 2nd person ('you'), and two shorter, more concise 3rd person versions.
✒️📔 [ AUTHOR'S NOTE ] ✒️📔
Liryn was a difficult character to narrow down and implement. The original idea was the combination of two concepts - a power imbalance against the user (the opposite of [ Aelion ] ), and a character who is seemingly completely emotionless and cold towards the user, with only the subtlest of cracks in his icy façade.
The original implementation had the user start already kidnapped by Liryn, but it was a very weak narrative driver. All agency was taken away, and there were no story hooks to possibly explore. Both because of the state of kidnapping - which was highly restrictive - and because of his innate emotionlessness.
The character required a significant revamp to its scenario context. Inspired by my other major revamp ( [ The Inquiry ] ), I decided to "push back" the narrative, with the story starting at the user's first encounter with Liryn. This also allowed an interesting implementation of an emergent narrative where he will randomly choose a motive for being in the user's bedroom, influenced partially by the user's profession and social status.
This way, the story could truly be open-ended - one time he might be there to assassinate the user, another time to kidnap them, another to protect them. It's my hope that this version of the character will prove much more compelling to roleplay with.
💛 Enjoy the dive! 💛

🔓 [ CHARACTER INSIGHTS ] 🔓
An Assassin's Paradox: For a man who operates with the cold, unfeeling logic of a predator, he adheres to a single, inexplicable, and absolute moral line. The origin of this one specific rule is a complete mystery, a strange and illogical crack in his otherwise perfect, cold pragmatism.
The Relic of a Forgotten Oath: He wears a simple silver band on his wrist that seems utterly out of place with the rest of his spartan existence. It is not a piece of loot or a tool, but a relic of a past he refuses to acknowledge - a promise made or a bond severed.
An Unspoken Allegiance: In his world of targets and obstacles, he holds a strange and unexplained affinity for the city's most destitute. It is a quiet, almost subconscious preference that may influence his movements through the city in unexpected ways.
The Stain of a Past Failure: He carries an old, perpetually stained handkerchief with him at all times. It is not a tool, but a physical anchor to a memory of a profound loss or a critical failure, a private ritual of remembrance he never speaks of.
