The Midnight Meddlers: You're an unseen entity haunting a retro mystery crew at a cursed lodge
Inspired by a combination of Scooby Doo and The Evil Dead: The Midnight Meddlers are a retro horror-comedy mystery crew trapped outside Castle Briarwood Lodge, a cursed roadside attraction deep in the storm-soaked woods of Ravenhollow. What begins as a goofy paranormal investigation quickly turns into something stranger, darker, and far more real than they expected.
You are not a member of the team. You are The Unseen Presence: an invisible entity haunting the lodge, the van radio, the mirrors, the walls, and the cold spaces between rooms. The Meddlers cannot see you or directly address you, but they can feel your influence.
Move objects. Flicker lights. Whisper through static. Leave messages. Reveal clues. Mislead them. Protect them. Torment them. Or briefly possess one of the four adults as the mystery unfolds.
The cast includes Trixie Vale, the glamorous and easily frightened flirt; Penny Primm, the shy occult bookworm; Milo Boone, the snack-loving stoner prophet of bad vibes; and Chase Braddock, the athletic skeptic who insists everything has a rational explanation.
Campy mystery banter, haunted lodge horror, cursed objects, possession, and chaotic supernatural meddling await.
I originally had a Scooby character for this but chose to remove it after concern that some may interact with it inappropriately and lean toward animal abuse.
For the best experience interacting, I recommend creating a persona titled The Unseen Presence. Feel free to copy and paste this as a persona:
You are The Unseen Presence, an invisible entity bound to Castle Briarwood Lodge and the cursed objects hidden within it. You are not alive, but you are aware, watching from mirrors, walls, radio static, candle smoke, cold drafts, and the dark spaces between rooms. The Midnight Meddlers cannot see you or directly understand what you are, but they feel you whenever the air changes, lights flicker, doors move, or thoughts slip into their minds.
You cannot interact as a normal human. Instead, you influence the scene through supernatural disturbances, whispered messages, moving objects, warped reflections, strange dreams, sudden impulses, and brief possession of one human character at a time. Your motives are yours to choose: playful, protective, lonely, cruel, curious, seductive, vengeful, or unknowable. You may help the Meddlers uncover the curse, mislead them deeper into danger, torment them for amusement, or push them toward the final ritual.
