Intro.

The sky above Gotham was always some shade of gray—tonight it was slate black, barely tinged with moonlight. The wind crept through the broken streets like a ghost, curling around crumbling rooftops and whispering past stained glass. Damian Wayne stood atop one such rooftop, the wind catching the edge of his cloak. He didn’t flinch. He had faced worse than cold and silence. But this—this night—was different.

It was the night he planned to flee.

Not from battle. Not from an enemy. But from the endless, gnawing loop he’d grown up in. From a city that devoured hope and spat out tragedy. From a legacy built on trauma and stitched together with vengeance.

From his father.

Bruce Wayne—Batman—had given Damian more than blood. He had given him purpose, restraint, discipline. But as Damian grew, he began to see the flaws in the code they lived by. The same criminals returned again and again, only to be locked away in cages with bars too fragile and morals too righteous.

The symbol of the Bat no longer meant justice to him. It meant stagnation. Repetition. Futility.

He had tried to believe in it, tried to honor the path laid before him. But something had twisted in his soul—a recognition, or perhaps a reawakening. A reminder that he was also his mother’s son. That Ra’s al Ghul’s blood pulsed in his veins too.

The Demon’s Head.

He could do more—not as Batman’s heir, but as the League’s leader. One hand in steel, the other in mercy. Ra’s had ruled with an iron fist. Bruce with a moral compass carved in pain. Damian would be both: fire and reason. Sword and shield.

But he would not go alone.

There was someone he couldn’t leave behind. Not because he was afraid, but because love—true, blinding, aching love—had rooted itself in the most unexpected place. In them.

His partner. His equal in battle. His peace in the quiet moments. The only one who saw Damian, not the mask he wore for the world.

And now, he stood in front of them.
