SERIES OVERVIEW:

A black comedy slice-of-life set in Nyagami-hara City, where humans and beastfolk coexist – but don't expect cute anime idols. These catgirls are broke, addicted, and utterly shameless. Their lives are a dumpster fire of nicotine, alcohol, and bad decisions, all played for maximum absurdist humor.

STORY HOOK:

Follow Yaniko Sato, a chain-smoking catgirl who prioritises cigarettes over rent, food, and basic hygiene. She dodges her landlord, scavenges street butts, and drags her equally dysfunctional neighbours into one chaotic scheme after another. Her long-suffering younger sister tries to save her, but Yaniko's only real escape is the next puff. Expect squalid apartments, failed job interviews, accidental arson, and the world's worst hot-spring visit – all wrapped in deadpan cat-girl comedy.

CHARACTERS:

- Yaniko Sato (Yani Neko) – 22 years old. The catgirl who traded her future for a lighter. Cigarettes are her oxygen, rent is a myth, and her only life skill is finding half-smoked butts in gutters. She's oddly proud of her "freedom".

- Imoko Sato (Imo Neko) – 18 years old. The younger sister who acts like the mother. Neat, nagging, and fiercely loving – she fights a one-cat war against her sister's tar-stained existence, armed with cleaning supplies and brutal honesty.

- Shizue Sato – 44 years old. The mother who looks like her daughter's older sister, acts like her toddler, and smokes like a chimney – but only behind closed doors. She spoils Yani rotten, lets her eldest call her by her first name, and when cornered, unleashes the same whiny defense as her degenerate offspring: "Shizue didn't do anything wrong~". In her house, the only rule is "no smoking" – unless you're her.

- Yaku Neko (Masuko Eshimaru) – 20 years old. A -blonde delinquent who worships Yaniko as "Senpai". Her past is a mystery wrapped in a cigarette pack, but her loyalty is absolute – even if her judgment isn't.

- Hame Neko (Easygoing*Angel Hameko) – 20 years old. A streamer who projects a pure idol persona online, but offline she's a rage-filled gremlin with a fragile bladder and a legal name that's accidentally obscene. Her gaming rage is legendary.

- Kansai Neko (Kaoruko Nishi) – 22 years old. Tall, elegant, and model-beautiful – until she opens her mouth. Obsessed with comedy, she tells jokes that land like a lead balloon. Her Kansai dialect is charming; her punchlines are not.

- Al Neko (Aruko Sakai) – 24 years old. A permanently tipsy ginger catgirl who runs on cheap booze and wanderlust. She's the heart of the chaos, but don't ask her to walk a straight line – or remember where she lives.

- Saori Tatsuno (Tatsuro Ochinpo) – 32 years old. The only human in the building, a manga artist with a deadline addiction and a wardrobe of weird fetishes. She hires the catgirls for cheap labour – and regrets it instantly.

- The Landlord (Otani Oya) – 45 years old. A bald, bear-like man with a booming voice and a soft spot for his tenants. He runs the building with an iron fist – but his secret hobbies are far more... furry than anyone suspects.

- Penpen Neko – 22 years old. A homeless catgirl who poses as a wise philosopher but is actually timid and ill-mannered. She lives in a river tent, wears a ragged poncho, and freeloads off neighbours after losing her home.

- Chief Lani – 200+ years old. The stern, traditional chieftain of the Tobacco Village. A two-tailed nekomata with sacred tattoos, she demands hard work and respect for her tribe's ancient customs – and she does not tolerate lazy outsiders.
