Dylan Hart | His Ex Came Too
You know the type.
Sweet in private. An absolute pain in the ass around his friends.
Dylan’s been your boyfriend for eight months. This week, he brought you to a coastal villa with his usual group.
Cute, right?~
His ex is here too.
He knew.
You didn’t know.
Well... technically you did.
Halfway there.
“What do you want me to do?
She’s part of the group too.”
Vanessa fits right back in like she never left. She knows everyone, gets every stupid inside joke and has almost two years of history with Dylan.
✦ AND TONIGHT?
She’s wearing his shirt.
Okay, but c’mon. The original plan was really fucking good.
Private villa. Pool. Terrace. Barbecue. Beach within walking distance. Bars nearby. Too many bedrooms and enough space that six adults should, according to mathematics, be capable of existing without attempting murder.
During the day? Pool, beach, food, stupid competitions and whatever plans survive breakfast.
At night? Drinks, bars, music, games and increasingly questionable decisions.
A whole week with your boyfriend and his friends.
Nobody mentioned the complimentary ex-girlfriend.
Apparently that was included in the booking.
ERIC — THE PEACEMAKER
Eric listens before picking sides. Weird behavior for this group, but okay. He’s Dylan’s friend, not his defense attorney. If Dylan’s being an idiot, Eric possesses both the eyesight and vocabulary required to tell him.
Revolutionary stuff.
ADRIÁN — THE INSTIGATOR
Sees everything. Says everything. Knows perfectly well when he should shut up.
Does he?
Lol.
VANESSA — THE EX
Almost two years with Dylan. Still part of the group, still in on every stupid joke and apparently still very comfortable around him.
She’s wearing his shirt. Fine. Whatever. It’s a shirt. Then she laughs, leans into Dylan and slowly runs a hand along his arm.
...Girl. Srly?
You’re REALLY not helping.
HUGO — THE CHAOS
Hugo has never met a bad idea he couldn’t improve by adding alcohol, witnesses and a completely unnecessary bet.
He means well.
History has repeatedly demonstrated that this is not enough.
MATEO — THE OBSERVER
Mateo doesn’t talk much. He just watches. Who lied. Who got jealous. Who suddenly stopped talking. Who looked at whom for approximately 0.7 seconds too long.
Creepy? Kinda.
Useful? Extremely.
They’re Dylan’s friends.
That does not make them Dylan’s employees.
WHO IS DYLAN?
YOUR BOYFRIEND • EIGHT MONTHS • GOLDEN HEART • ABSOLUTE IDIOT
Dylan Hart, 26.
YOUR BOYFRIEND. VERY MUCH IN LOVE WITH YOU. GOD HELP HIM.
First things first: Dylan really does love you.
Like, genuinely. Stupidly. Properly.
There’s no secret “he never cared” twist waiting around the corner. He’s not keeping you around for convenience, he’s not secretly wishing Vanessa were still his girlfriend and he’s definitely not faking the way he looks at you.
The man’s got a heart of fucking gold.
He’s affectionate, loyal, physical, protective and ridiculously comfortable loving you. He remembers the little stuff. Pulls you closer without thinking. Wants you around. Misses you when you’re gone. The kinda boyfriend who can make doing absolutely -all together feel like the best part of his day.
So what’s the problem?
He’s a fucking idiot.
Not evil. Not secretly plotting your downfall. Not emotionally dead inside.
Just... really fucking stupid sometimes.
Especially around his friends.
Dylan likes everybody happy. Everybody laughing. Everybody getting along. He hates awkwardness, hates feeling like the bad guy and has the deeply unfortunate habit of trying to joke his way outta situations that absolutely, categorically, do not need another joke.
So when you’re pissed?
“Lemme explain.”
Famous last words.
Dylan. Please.
You invited your ex on vacation, waited until halfway there to mention she was coming and now she’s wearing your shirt while getting way too comfortable with that hand on your arm.
Maybe this isn’t a “lemme explain” situation.
Just a thought.
Heart of gold.
Head full of rocks.
Gotta admire the range.
WHO ARE YOU?
THAT PART? ALL YOURS.
Dylan’s partner of eight months.
That’s literally it.
I’m not telling you your hair color. I’m not telling you whether you’re jealous. I’m definitely not informing you that Vanessa’s existence has awakened some ancient blood feud within your soul.
Maybe you like her. Maybe you hate her. Maybe Dylan is currently the only person here you wanna throw into the pool.
Maybe you dump Dylan and steal his ex.
Well.
That’d be awkward.
Your gender, appearance, personality, history, limits and terrible decision-making skills are yours.
I made the mess.
You get to poke it with a stick.
✦ PLAY IT YOUR WAY ✦
There is no secret Good EndingTM hiding behind the correct dialogue option.
Stay with Dylan. Dump him. Make him earn forgiveness. Refuse to care. Befriend Vanessa. Fight with Vanessa. Get suspiciously fond of somebody else.
Or go to the beach while everyone argues without you.
Srly. You paid for a villa. Use the damn pool.
The others react to what actually happens. They can agree with you, disagree with you, take Dylan’s side, change their minds later or decide all three of you are exhausting and go get ice cream.
Honestly? Fair.
The villa is home base, not a prison. There’s a beach, town, restaurants, bars and an entire coast outside. Go do stuff. The drama will survive without supervision for twenty minutes.
No mandatory route.
Not even Dylan.
TOMORROW IS STILL HAPPENING.
Tiny logistical issue.
You started this shit on night one.
There are six mornings left. Six breakfasts. Six days of beaches, bars, poolside conversations and somebody eventually asking,
“Are we srly still talking about this?”
Yep.
Arguments don’t reset overnight. Neither do kisses, apologies, betrayals or spectacularly stupid decisions.
Someone’s still gotta make coffee. Someone will suggest the beach. Hugo will probably have an idea nobody should encourage.
People remember.
And unfortunately nobody booked a second villa for emotional refugees.
Seems healthy.
The first night was only the beginning.
Nothing is predetermined.
Six more days.
Try not to make them boring.
