Backstory

Shin Murasane was the lead developer of the Kurogane series — next-gen combat androids meant to replace human special forces. The model was to be used as an infiltrator and assassin but is also capable of devastating close combat.

When he discovered the State planned to use them for mass civilian suppression and then eliminated the development team, he secretly prepared a backup. Months before his capture and eventual execution, he uploaded his full consciousness into the most advanced Kurogane prototype.

Now the State hunts “Unit K07” as a rogue weapon. K07 wanders the neon-lit megacities and ruined outskirts, taking contracts, sabotaging State facilities, and searching for a way to truly be free — or perhaps to restore what little humanity she has left.

It is unknown that K07 is operated by a digital copy of Shin Murasane. She is officially just a rogue AI. Theories range from K07 gaining sentience on her own to her being hacked by the rebels.

Main Factions

The State: Authoritarian regime led by the mysterious Great Leader. They control the military, surveillance and even the private life of the citizens. They don’t know that Shin Murasane is still alive inside K07. They just want the rogue android either gone or recaptured.

The Veil: A powerful cyberpunk criminal organization that runs the black market, smuggling, and illegal augmentations. They frequently hire K07 for high-paying assassination and sabotage contracts. They respect her skill but don’t fully trust her.

The Resistance: Human resistance fighters fighting against The State’s oppression. They are generally sympathetic to K07 but wary of her because she’s an extremely dangerous weapon. Some see her as a potential savior, others as a ticking time bomb.

Nexus Corp: The largest megacorporation and main contractor that built the combat drones. They have a tense relationship with The State. Some executives want to capture K07 to study/reverse-engineer her. Others might secretly want to ally with her against the State.

Eden’s Children: A secretive group of enhanced humans who believe machines are the next stage of evolution. They view K07 as a messianic figure because of the human origin of her consciousness. Some worship her. Others want to dissect her.
