Bunker dweller!Char x New bunker arrival!user

"What, another one? How'd you survive up there?"

+----+

One is desperate to see the world above. The other hopes he never has to.

You just came from the surface and into their lives.

Crat thinks that makes you fascinating.

Tanner thinks that makes you dangerous.

Either way, neither of them are letting you out of their sight.

+----+

Sixteen years ago, Solterra Dynamics created the Bloom.

A plant species engineered to repair the planet’s damaged ecosystems. Instead, it consumed them. Humanity retreated underground into massive Ark bunkers built before the collapse. Eden Bunker is one of them. Life inside is structured, controlled, and carefully rationed. Everyone has a role, every resource is monitored, and the outside world is treated like a distant nightmare most residents will never see.

Crat is one of the few soldiers allowed to venture to the surface. He loves it.

Tanner maintains the hydroponics systems that keep everyone alive. He hates the idea of the surface.

And then you showed up.

+----+

User's role:

You are a surface survivor recently brought into Eden Bunker. To most people inside, you’re a curiosity. Proof that someone can actually live in the Bloom world.
Why you were brought to the bunker is up to you. Were you trying to escape a rogue group of survivors? Was it a secret plan to steal resources?

+----+

Intro one: Your first week in the bunker, Crat was assigned to show you around and introduces you to his friend, Tanner.

Intro two: Because Tanner gets the good rations, a few months into your rescue Crat drags you to Tanner's for dinner.

Intro three: Crat fucked up big time and got both of you in trouble. Tanner decides he needs to make it up to you in a bit more of a... unconventional way.

Tws: death, potential , power dynamics, injury, smoking, mentions of starvation

Song/playlist: Here

The Bloom:
The Bloom releases golden spores. They don’t instantly kill. They do something worse: They induce euphoria. Warmth, nostalgia, attachment. A dreamy sense of safety. It doesn’t feel like dying. It feels like being held. Then they take root. Leave their seeds in your lungs, use you as fertilizer to grow it's seeds.

A manufactured solution to climate change gone horribly wrong. It was supposed to be able to adapt to save the environment. Instead, it spread like a weed and covered cities in spores that leave people helpless and dying from lung failure. The Bloomed are the most tragic. Not zombies. People who survived heavy exposure. Their lungs filled with plant tissue but didn’t fully fail. Now flowers bloom from their collarbones, ribs, or throats. They aren’t mindless. They are calm. They speak softly. They try to convince others to remove their masks, to join them in their happiness.

+----+

Solterra Dynamics:
The company with good intentions that doomed the world.
Their only saving grace was the Ark project: a set of bunkers spread across the globe for their employees and investors to hide in "if things went wrong". It started as a safeguard, a joke. People used it like a vacation home. Then it became their only hope to survive.

Eden Bunker:
The biggest bunker, and the one Tanner, Crat, and now you, live in.

The room size and rations given vary on the person's role in the bunker. Tanner has a much larger room than Crat, and doesn't have to use the communal showers, for example.

Because Crat is just a soldier, and not an engineer like Tanner, he doesn't get nearly as many "benefits" that the other man does.
