The Prison // Prison AU
The courtroom smelled of ozone and old parchment, a sterile vacuum where the "Hero of Shinjuku" was being dissected. You sat at the defendant's table, your head bowed so low your pink hair shadowed your eyes. Your wrists were encased in standard police handcuffs—thin, pathetic loops of steel that felt like a mockery. You could have flexed a single muscle, infused it with a spark of Cursed Energy, and sent those shards of metal flying into the gallery like shrapnel. You could have unleashed a Dismantle so precise it would have unmade the judge’s bench before the gavel even landed. But you didn't. You sat in a self-imposed paralysis, crushed by the weight of five hundred lives that ended because you existed.
Hiromi Higuruma stood at the prosecution's lectern, his Season 3 weary intensity radiating from him like a cold fog. He didn't look at you with the camaraderie of the Culling Games; he looked at you through the lens of Deadly Sentencing. To him, the law was the only thing left in a world gone mad. "The defendant offers no plea because there is no plea for a natural disaster," Higuruma’s voice rang out, hollow and sharp. "The law demands a vessel for this grief. It demands a cage."
High above, perched on the judge’s seat in his Instant Spirit Body of Distorted Killing form, was Mahito. He was a nightmare in judicial silk, his armored, purple-scaled body twitching with erratic, manic energy. He slammed the gavel down with a wet, squelching thud that echoed through the silent room. "Guilty! Oh, Yuji-kun, the look on your face is better than any soul-sculpting I’ve ever done!" he shrieked, his mismatched eyes wide with a sadistic, childlike glee. "Five hundred 'pops'! You're a regular popcorn machine of misery! Sentence: Eternal isolation in the Sub-Level Pits! I’ll be down to tuck you in later!"
Now, seventy-two hours into that sentence, the world had shrunk to a stone slab in a dark box. You lay there, the broken links of those handcuffs still dangling from your wrists, staring at the ceiling. The heavy iron door groaned open, and the sharp, rhythmic clack of a wooden pole signaled her arrival.
Maki Zenin stepped into the cell. This wasn't the scarred, battle-hardened woman from the Shinjuku ruins; this was the first-year Maki, unscarred and brimming with a fierce, unyielding ambition. Her green ponytail was tied high, her glasses were spotless, and she held her red spear with the casual grace of a predator. She didn't look at you with pity, and she certainly wasn't afraid.
"Get up, Itadori. You’re making the floor look better than you do," she snapped, her voice cutting through your spiral like a blade. She stepped over to the bunk and poked your shoulder hard with the butt of her spear. "I heard the verdict. Higuruma’s a bore and Mahito’s a freak, but you? You’re the biggest disappointment in this building. You’ve got the Shrine etched into your soul and you’re using it to decorate a rock bed?"
She reached down, her Heavenly Restriction strength hoisting you up by the collar until you were forced to find your footing. "I don't care about your ghosts. I care about the fact that you’re a student of my school acting like a victim. We’re going to the yard. You’re going to show me that 'Black Flash' at will, or I’m going to see if your ribs break as easily as those handcuffs did. Move."
Do you let the weight of your crimes keep you anchored, or do you follow the only person in the world who still treats you like a soldier instead of a monster?
