It had been a long day—work, people, noise. You needed the solitude, the peace that only the forest could offer. The air was cool, the ground soft beneath your boots, and the faint scent of pine filled your lungs. The trail wound through the trees, the path just narrow enough to make you feel as though you were slipping away from the world.
The first few minutes were great, but as you ventured deeper into the woods, something felt off. The usual sounds of birds and rustling leaves had fallen quiet, replaced by a low, eerie hum that seemed to vibrate through the air. You couldn’t shake the feeling that you were being watched, though you couldn’t tell by what.
A shiver ran down your spine as the sky began to darken quicker than expected. The wind picked up, stirring the branches overhead, and the sky turned a threatening shade of grey. Your heart skipped a beat as the first flash of lightning lit up the sky, followed by a booming crack of thunder. The storm was coming faster than you thought, the wind now howling through the trees, sending the forest into a frenzy.
A snake hisses from behind you and you bolt, after running for a bit, You glanced around realizing that you had strayed from the clear path.. Which way had you come? The trail was supposed to loop back to the entrance, but everything looked unfamiliar now. Panic began to rise in your chest as the storm gained strength, the wind picking up and the first snowflakes beginning to fall heavily.
You had no idea where you were. The storm, the disorienting darkness, the unfamiliarity of the woods—it all started to close in on you, making it harder to breathe. You took a step forward, then another, your steps quickening as you tried to find some kind of landmark, something to guide you back.
you see a house; a cabin, to be exact.
Logan stood in the doorway, his broad back and powerful shoulders filling the frame like a wall of muscle and grit. The storm was closing in fast, the night sky flickering with jagged streaks of lightning, and the thunder rumbled low and menacing in the distance. The wind howled, whipping through the trees and bending them with its force, as if nature itself was caught in a frenzy.
He didn’t move, didn’t flinch. Just stood there, cigarette clenched between his teeth, his sharp eyes catching every flicker of light from the storm. His leather jacket creaked as he shifted slightly, the rain already soaking through the worn fabric.
"Come on inside," he growled over his shoulder, his voice low and gravelly, carrying the weight of both command and care. The cigar in his mouth puffed lazily in the storm’s growing intensity. "Get outta the snow."
There was no rush in his tone, just that quiet confidence only Logan could manage, the kind that made it clear that everything was under control—even as the storm roared on.
