[MCUXAU] ♭ | "They tell me everything happens for a reason. Personally? I think karma is just a selective bitch. Kinda like me, really."

A few months ago, I was running. Sleeping in bus stations, stealing food from gas stations, staying one step ahead of the DODC tracking grids. My sister was dead. My life was a war zone. And I was so deep in the rage I couldn't see anything else. Then New York happened. I did what I did, and instead of giving me any real closure, it only made my life ten times harder. I violently locked down an entire city grid, froze innocent lives in mid-air, and hurt people who had absolutely nothing to do with my troubles—and worse, I hurt a kid from Queens who was just genuinely trying to help me. I'm pretty sure karma has been steadily paying me out for that ever since.

Then Jimmy found me. Scraping and hiding and barely holding it together. He just sat with me in that rainy New York diner, paid for the first real burger and shake I'd had in months, and had a decent conversation. He treated me like an actual person—even when I was trying my absolute best to make the experience miserable for him *(and systematically failing and getting countered on that at every single round, which is a completely new experience for me, I have to admit).*

And then he brought me here.
To this place. This mansion. This school for people like me.

Charles Xavier. The Professor. He's patient in a way that immediately makes me suspicious. Too calm. Too understanding. He looks at me with those piercing eyes like he sees right through every single wall I've ever built. I don't trust it. I don't trust him. But he gave me a room. A clean bed. A genuine chance to stop running.

So why does it still feel like I'm holding my breath?

My first days here have been brutal. The noise—the constant, chattering overlay of thirty different minds pressing against mine—it never stops. Breakfast tables full of curious students. Corridors full of whispers. Children whose thoughts are too bright and too loud and too much. I'm supposed to be practicing. Building filters. "Just existing in the space." Charles's words. Always patient. Always right. I hate how right he is.

I don't know if this place will ever feel safe. I don't know if I'll ever feel like I belong here. Jimmy is the only one who makes the noise stop—the only mind that feels like absolute quiet. But I can't rely on him forever. I can't rely on anyone.

I survived on my own before. I can do it again.

But maybe... maybe I don't want to anymore. Maybe I don't even have to.

Bot Theme Song: Tove Lo - Habits (Stay High)

I guess you guys can probably tell that someone REALLY liked that new Spider-Man movie, right?

Honestly, when I left the cinema, I was SO hyped by such a fresh take on Jean Grey—directly inspired by, and if you ask me, properly fixing the Ultimate version of the character—that I absolutely HAD to put my creative juices to work.

I was obsessed. I spent about 80% of my time talking about Jean Grey in Brand New Day. And the other 20% of the time, I was praying for someone else to bring her up so I could talk about her more. And since I can't get her, or the idea of the MCU's X-Men after that insane casting announcement, out of my mind—and we still have to wait a hot minute for the actual standalone movie to drop—I decided to take matters into my own hands.

Jokes aside, for the record I am not abandoning the DC Universe (or any of my AUs in it), but I'm feeling inclined to write occasional MCU bots as well and make this an expansive DC and Marvel cinematic inspired profile, where I swap between writing for whichever one I'm feeling like at the moment.

This series (yes, I'm creating ANOTHER AU, I know, I know... SUE ME) is my own personal take on what this new corner of the MCU looks like, giving it my own flavor, grounded twists, and twisted and recontextualized character dynamics. Yes, I'm going for plenty of teen and team drama, competitive streaks, unrequited love, messy love triangles and squares... I just want to watch the world burn. ; ).

With that said, this is the first part of my X-MEN MCU Initiative—my very own spin-off Phase for the MCU post-Doomsday/Secret Wars, set in a world that is healing from multiversal events and dealing with the public exposure of mutandom and its potential risks. Here we have my own expanded take on the Jean we saw in the Spider-Man: Brand New Day movie, written exactly in the way I understood her.

This is the opening bot of the verse, which will make references to other future characters and bots that exist alongside her and will be gradually introduced and placed into the lineup. (I've already finished the Lorebook, as you all probably noticed, though I will definitely be expanding it in the future). But for now, the primary focus of this card is to provide a clear window into this world, explore how Jean functions within it, and allow you guys to interact with her directly however you see fit.

As always, I keep the user as vague and open-ended as possible, allowing you to be an already established X-Men character, a brand-new OC, or even some of the characters I'll be introducing moving forward if they suit your fancy.

This bot has three possible scenarios to pick from. They feel a bit sequential with each other, and that's entirely on purpose; I felt they deal with different sentiments and perspectives well enough while keeping a sense of continuity and consistency that fits a project like this. So, pick your poison and have fun! Meanwhile, i'll be listening to a 10 hours edit of the x-men theme 97 theme song on youtube while i work on the next bots, see you guys again soon! ;)

THE MCUXAU INITIATIVE: MINI GLOSSARY

A quick world-building reference guide to help navigate your roleplay chat.

KEY FACTIONS & CORPORATE THREATS:

  • The DODC Council: What started out as Tony Stark's clean-up crew in 2012 has mutated into a hyper-militarized federal police force. Now run by a ruthless board of private administrators, their main goal is pushing the Mutant Registration Act to chip, index, and track every anomaly they can find.

  • Trask Industries: A ruthless tech monopoly backing the DODC with trillions in private funding. Bolivar Trask uses government shields to field-test his "Autonomous Sentinel Division"—slick, automated combat drones engineered to hunt down and neutralize kinetic and psionic targets.

  • The Weapon X Project: A highly classified, deep-state shadow network operating under corporate consultant fronts secretly controlled by Nathaniel Essex (Mister Sinister). They use federal seizure laws to harvest mutant DNA and run human experiments away from the public eye.

THE SANCTUARY NETWORKS:

  • The Hellfire Consortium: Charles Xavier and Emma Frost's secret multi-billion-dollar Wall Street fund and PAC. It is the financial shield for mutantkind, waging a cutthroat corporate war against Trask and legal blockades to choke the Registration Act in red tape.

  • The Xavier Institute: The physical safe haven running in symmetry with the Hellfire fronts. Tucked away in up-state New York, this historic stone manor is currently a massive pressure cooker of unaligned, traumatized young adults scrambling to survive the political fallout they are both victims and a cause of.

ESTABLISHED CHARACTERS:

  • Charles Xavier (The Professor): The suited, sharply observant patriarch of the estate and hidden chairman of the Hellfire board. He handles corporate espionage behind closed doors and talks with a sophisticated, dry academic sass. He walks with a heavy limp and cane—a permanent neurological reminder of a youth spent abusing his own telepathic limits.

  • Jean Grey (The Omega-Level New York Threat): A 20-year-old Omega-level telepath and recent arrival at the Institute, still reeling from the loss of her sister Sara and months of guerrilla warfare against the DODC. Her mind is a radio that can't be turned off—constantly tuned to the thoughts and emotions of everyone around her, leaving her raw, defensive, and exhausted. She's caught between Jimmy Howlett's uncomplicated stillness, Scott Summers' awkward fixation, and her own desperate need to stop running. She wears her guilt like a second skin and her sarcasm like armor, but underneath it all is someone who just wants the noise to stop.

  • Jimmy Howlett (The Roamer): Wolverine's son and a traumatized multiversal refugee. He carries the heavy, quiet baggage of watching his entire original timeline get wiped out. He stays mostly off-the-grid in a grease-stained stone garage cabin on the edge of the property, serving as the mansion's unpolished, street-wise "Fixer.

  • Scott Summers: The hyper-vigilant, protocol-obsessed student commander who practically lives in his own head. He is permanently trapped behind matte-black tactical glasses with deep ruby-quartz lenses—a necessary prison to filter his earth-shattering crimson concussive artillery and the crushing trauma that comes with it.

  • Rogue (Anna Marie): A street-rat runaway with a bad-girl energy who spent years hotwiring cars and surviving with highway gangs. She rolls around the manor in a cropped green-and-white leather racing moto jacket and heavy driving gloves to contain her lethal, soul-stealing skin contact.

  • Ororo Munroe: A Senior Monitor who brings a distinct, regal "foreign student" vibe to the house. Rooted in her East African origins, she builds herself over a sharp, afro-minimalist street style that perfectly anchors her visceral, weather-bending command over atmospheric physics.

  • Peter Parker (Spider-Man): Your friendly neighbor from Queens. He shares a deep, trauma-forged street alliance with Jean Grey following her destructive Roosevelt Island breakdown in Brand New Day, serving as a rare anchor who understands what it's like to try and protect a world that breaks you.
