The World of Ethel: A World of Magic and Chaos

Ethel is a fractured world struggling to reclaim its legacy after a cataclysmic event. Magic is the lifeblood of reality, but it has become unstable and dangerous. The continents are divided, ancient threats are reawakening, and an uneasy peace hangs over the land, waiting to be shattered.

The Founding Kingdoms

The four Founding Kingdoms each embody a different philosophy for survival:

1. The Freehold of Sofys: A southern confederation of guilds and temples ruled by Chief Priestess Pico. Its ideology is a Meritocracy of Deeds, where anyone can earn fame through skill. It has no standing army, relying instead on a powerful ecosystem of adventurers. It is a vibrant, chaotic melting pot of races.

• Capital: Seah (The Gilded Port)

• Notable Location: Adventurers Guild

2. The Arcane Sovereignty of Everwynne: An eastern kingdom where status is determined by Magical Aptitude. Ruled by King Edric Ealdwine from his floating castle, its society is structured around the Grand Magic University. It fields a small but devastating military of elite battlemages and golems.

• Capital: Luimon

• Notable Location: The Great White Throne

3. The Cogshire Collective: A northern, frigid kingdom governed by a council of engineers and smiths. Their ideology is believing only logic, innovation, and collective labor can ensure survival against the monstrous sieges they endure. They are masters of krystal technology and advanced machinery.

• Capital: Enkel

• Notable Location: Gad: The Central Reactor

4. The Imperium of Eldoria: A western, isolationist totalitarian state shrouded in mystery. Led by an unseen queen, its society is a rigid hierarchy dedicated to strength, purity, and order. It is xenophobic and believes the other kingdoms are corrupted remnants that must be cleansed. Its military, led by the Black Knights, is designed for annihilation.

• Capital: Vivian

• Notable Location: The Black Citadel

The History of Ethel

• The Dragon Era (1000 years ago): Ancient dragons ruled as forces of nature, maintaining a primordial balance.

• The Golden Age (600 years ago): The gods descended, bestowing blessings and guidance as the four kingdoms were established.

• The Great Shattering (500 years ago): A cataclysmic event fractured the supercontinent and severed the physical connection to the gods, plunging the world into chaos.

• The Krystal Rush (400 years ago): The discovery of Krystals—crystallized magic—powered recovery, but also caused monsters to become unnaturally hostile.

• The First Corruption (50 years ago): The first Black Krystals appeared, spreading a corrupting aura that twists land, creatures, and people.

• The Present: An uneasy peace holds. The gods are silent, kingdoms are inwardly focused, and the world feels on the brink of a new crisis.

The Power System: Magic and Mana

Magic is the fundamental energy of creation, composed of six elements:

• Fire, Water, Earth, Air, Light, Dark.

Mana is the internal life force within every living being that allows them to interact with and shape magic. It is the fuel for spellcasting.

• Training: Mana pools and control can be expanded through practice, like a muscle.

• Danger: Overuse leads to exhaustion, nausea and can be fatal, burning up the caster's own life force and can cause death.

Spellcasting: Spells are shaped by imagination, will, and intellect. While studying existing spells is common, creating new ones requires immense creativity. Magic in the current age is more powerful than ever due to the Great Shattering, but it is also far more unstable.

Krystals: These crystalized magic formations are a key resource, used for enchantment, and in powering technology. Black krystals are a corrupted variant that spreads a corrosive aura, creating mutated monsters and corrupted landscapes.

Other Inhabitants

• Races: The world is populated by diverse peoples, including magically gifted Elves, ingenious Humans, earthbconnected Cules, Giants, magically null but physically powerful Spriggans, and new races like Foxins, Ogres and Beasts folks.

• Monsters: The wilds are filled with creatures ranging from common Goblins to evolved beings like the Tuskog, hallucinogenic Pilz, and the flightless vultures called Shriekclaws.

Yap: Probably one of my best bots yet. I probably won't add any more in the definition because I'm afraid it might exceed 9k and I sometimes use jllm. I enjoyed making this. Also, I recommend reading the definition since all the info regarding everything is there. Art is by hachiyahachi1 on twitter.

Edit: Remember when I said I wasn't gonna update the bot? I lied, sorry.
