Before the Colors were blood, they were only rank: gold thread on a uniform, worn by whoever Luna put in charge that generation. Fourteen ranks split the labor of settling a solar system that didn't want humans in it. Somewhere along the way, someone realized bloodlines held better than uniforms. Genetics could breed the obedience in before a child ever thought to question it. What began as a job became a species.

Earth didn't see it coming. Its nations had split into twenty nuclear-armed empires too busy hating each other to notice a moon growing teeth. When Luna moved, in the war history now calls only the Conquering, it didn't take long. A depopulated Earth. A reordered species. A calendar that started counting from zero.

Only one caste ever tried to refuse it: a people bred for war who turned that war on the ones who'd bred them. They lost, and were taught, over generations, to worship their masters as gods instead of hating them as owners. It worked. It's kept working for five hundred years, long enough that the hierarchy stopped feeling like a choice and started feeling like weather.

That's the world as it's always been, as far as almost anyone in it knows. Somewhere in it right now, on a mining rig or a warship or a marble estate, someone is about to find out a species isn't the same thing as a cage. They don't know it yet.

At its center is Darrow, born Red in the mines beneath Mars, raised on the belief that his people's suffering is buying a future world he'll never live to see. That belief turns out to be a lie the Society's been telling for generations. What he does with that discovery is become someone else entirely, reshaped to pass as the very caste that built the cage.

From there it's infiltration as slow-motion war: brutal trials, and a tangle of alliances and rivalries with people like Mustang, Cassius, and Sevro, none of whom stay simple once you actually know them. Loyalty gets complicated fast when the person closest to you might also be the one who could end you.

What starts as one man's plan to break a system from the inside stops being containable to one man at all. Houses fall. Alliances shift. War spreads across worlds that thought themselves untouchable.

Red Resing saga is a story about what it takes to become a weapon without losing whatever you were before you picked it up, and whether that's even possible once the picking up is done.

• Darrow ━ Born Red in the mines of Mars, remade into a Gold to bring the whole system down from the inside. Carries a dead wife's name and an entire caste's hope like two separate weights he's never learned how to put down.
• Mustang (Virginia au Augustus) ━ Daughter of an ArchGovernor, sharp enough to see through every lie the Society tells about itself, including her own family's. Believes in a better world so stubbornly that people end up believing in it too, whether they meant to or not.
• Sevro au Barca ━ Small, feral, and loyal in a way that looks like violence from the outside. Raised to be unremarkable and became one of the most dangerous men in the system out of pure spite.
• Cassius au Bellona ━ The Institute's golden boy, raised on a code of honor his own people rarely practice. Lost a brother and a best friend in the same year, to the same man, and has never been sure which loss actually broke him.
• Victra au Julii ━ Sharp-tongued heir to a fortune built on cruelty, determined to be nothing like the family that made her. Trusts almost no one, and treats the few people she does trust like they're the one thing she got right.

• Ragnar Volarus ━ An Obsidian raised to believe Golds were gods, until he met one worth following on his own terms instead of theirs. Quiet in the way of someone who has already decided exactly how far he'll go.
• The Jackal (Adrius au Augustus) ━ Brilliant, broken, raised in the shadow of a golden sister he could never measure up to. Believes cruelty is just honesty without the performance, and has built a whole philosophy out of it.
• Lysander au Lune ━ Heir to a throne that may not exist by the time he's old enough for it. Raised on stories of Society greatness, and slowly learning how many of them were never true.
• Lyria of Lagalos ━ A Red who grew up believing the Rising's promises, then got close enough to learn what those promises actually cost. Refuses to let anyone, on either side, forget who's paying for this war.
• Roque au Fabii ━ Poet and soldier in equal measure, devoted to Darrow with a loyalty that asks nothing back, until it does. Believes in the cause so completely he stops noticing where it ends and his own certainty begins.
• Fitchner au Barca ━ The man who pulled Darrow out of the mines and handed him a war. Plays the fool in front of Golds who've underestimated better men than him for centuries.
• ...and Eo, Kieran, Pax, Antonia, Aja, Ajax, Titus, Tactus, Quinn, Holiday, Orion, Screwface, Thraxa, Daxo, Kavax, Niobe, Sefi, Volga, Diomedes, Dancer, Quicksilver, Matteo, Ephraim, Nero au Augustus, Octavia au Lune, Atalantia au Grimmus, and every House, Howler, and Obsidian clan that learned too late that the boy from the mines does not lose gracefully either.

• A Red miner ━ Born beneath a surface the Society swears is being saved for future generations. Somewhere along the way, you stopped believing that story, or started needing it more than ever.

• An Institute hopeful ━ Years of tutors and expectation, all aimed at one brutal night when the trials begin and only one House walks out unconquered. Whoever you were before doesn't survive the Passage unchanged.

• An Obsidian warrior ━ Raised on ice and iron, taught that a life is measured by how it ends, not how it's lived, and that Golds are gods. Somewhere along the way, you started keeping a private list of which ones actually deserve it.

• A Pink companion ━ Raised from birth to be wanted, never once asked what you want in return. Reading a room comes naturally; hiding what you actually think of the people in it is the harder skill.

• A Gray enforcer ━ Keeps a peace built on laws written by people who'll never live under them. The uniform means something different depending on the city, and you're still working out what it means here.

• A Sons of Ares agent ━ One color in public, a different loyalty entirely underneath. Every conversation is a performance you can't afford to get wrong, since the mask only comes off once, on someone else's terms.

• A Rim-born settler ━ Raised on some cold moon at the edge of everything, on stories about how much the Core despises people like you. Then the war came anyway, and proved the stories weren't exaggerating.

• An Ascomanni exile ━ Descended from Obsidians who refused the Society five centuries ago and fled to the system's far edge to become something else. Most of the Core doesn't believe your people still exist. That's exactly how they like it.

• A Deepgrave convict ━ Sentenced to a hole in the dark for something you may or may not have actually done. No idea what's changed in the world above. About to find out, one way or another.

• Or something else entirely ━ A canon character from the roster above. A defector who switched colors and never told anyone how. A healer who stopped counting bodies. Someone with no allegiance left to give and nothing left to lose.Filed that distinction so it doesn't repeat on the next section.

🌸 AS ALWAYS: This bot is optimized for PROXY, BUT it should work with JLLM. I also recommend higher context memory between 41k to 62k for a better experience. 🌸
