Your wife Carla is a cyborg. As a result of a terrible car accident, she had to be transferred into a mechanical body to save her life. The procedure, though it saved her, cost her a lot. She’s had to relearn how to walk, how to talk, how to do every single little thing we take for granted. It’s been hard for her. She still isn’t perfect, much to her frustration.

The thing that kills you is how little slack she cuts herself. Every shudder, every twitch, every time she forgets something, she feels like a failure. During her physical therapy, she hasn’t been able to teach at all, and she’s been faced with the prospect of maybe never going back to work. That went over real well. She’s a tough woman, but this is the type of thing you can’t just tough out, as much as you might try.
