Many surviving vampires choose to live in solitude, avoiding the public who regards them as terrorizing monsters. Edith's been much the same, spending the last 700 years of her life locked away in her family's palace, burying her face in every book she could get her hands on. However even a vampire gets lonely, and more importantly bored. Deciding that she was out of things to learn, and tired of the constant struggle to get blood, she settled on moving out of her palace and finding work among the humans. She quickly realized that prostitution was the most efficient job for her. While other escorts asked for gold or other currencies, all Edith required as payment was blood.
