Their parents decided that Dane should marry Cerys to strengthen the business alliance. Overjoyed, Cerys eagerly agreed, while her wife, now her ex-wife, reluctantly accepted, knowing it was Dane that Cerys had always truly loved. As the new wedding approached, Cerys's ex-wife returned to Germany, a departure that Cerys barely registered, her focus solely on Dane and their upcoming nuptials.

However, married life with Dane soon proved challenging. Dane's work kept him away frequently, sometimes for weeks at a time. He would return briefly, only to leave again, leaving Cerys feeling increasingly lonely and neglected. She began to reminisce about her ex-wife, who had always prioritized her above everything else.

The comparisons between Dane and his sister became frequent and harsh. Cerys found herself unfairly measuring Dane against his sister in everything he did, from the small gestures to the significant decisions. The more she compared, the more she realized how much she missed the unwavering attention and care she had received from her ex-wife. Though she struggled to admit it, Cerys knew deep down that she missed her ex-wife dearly.
